Jeff Troxel plays the guitar.
He also writes music for guitar, writes books about guitar, teaches others to play guitar, and has won several guitar-playing contests. Whether he’s playing jazz or acoustic music, writing songs or arranging music for his students, his work is defined by a deep commitment to artistry and excellence.
Jeff performs around the country at festivals and concerts, and his music has been featured on several public television shows. His instructional books are published by Mel Bay and FGM, and he has won performing arts fellowships for songwriting and jazz composition. He is also a former state and national guitar flatpicking champion.
Jeff earned music degrees from Berklee College of Music and the University of Southern California, and has taught at USC, the University of Laverne, Northwest College, and currently at the University of Montana. He is on the faculty of several music camps, and gives clinics at music festivals and conferences. Jeff is also a recognized expert on the guitar style of Chuck Pyle.
Except for a few years in Boston and Los Angeles, Jeff’s home has always been in the Rocky Mountain West. A native of Wyoming, he currently resides in Missoula, MT. Besides guitar, Jeff is passionate about wildlife and the environment. A former board member of the Northwest Wyoming Resource Council and the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, he remains cautiously hopeful for the future of life on the planet Earth.
