Cameron Knowler
Cameron Knowler is multi-instrumentalist, educator, and recording artist who specializes in jazz, bluegrass and old time music forms. He has established himself as an accompanist, collaborator and solo artist, with a parallel focus on sharing his craft with others. His teaching methods are tailored to the aspirations of the student, methods which are rooted in practicality, theory, and intuition. Knowler holds a degree in jazz guitar performance from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, yet enjoys resisting the chokehold of normativism. He is based out of Los Angeles, California.
Cameron has performed on bills, and in collaboration with, Daniel Bachman, Thomas Csorba, Brody Price, Charlie Rauh, Mark Fosson, Dylan Washington, Mark Goldenberg and Eli Winter. He has presented music at Anderson Fair, Cafe OTO, Duke Coffeehouse, Life in the City, McGonigel's Mucky Duck, Primavera Sound, Rhizome, Starlight Theater, South by Southwest, Trans-Pecos, Voices From Both Sides, The Yard Theater, and many others. His music has been featured by The Bluegrass Situation, Pitchfork, Uncut Magazine, No Depression, The Sydney Morning Herald and Texas Monthly, while his writing can be found in the pages of Acoustic Guitar Magazine.
